Norway is working on its prototype flagship wind turbine, one that would be the worlds largest with the rotor a shocking 475′ and measuring 533′ tall. This is a true monster that will be able to blow in near 10-megawatts, which is roughly 3 times the amount of energy than that of todays wind turbines. They hope to have the unit installed in 2011, with 2 years of testing to follow. Unit will cost a whopping $23 million USD and should be a huge milestone for offshore wind energy.

Video showing two Wind Turbine technicians being picked up after maintenance to a Vestas turbine. Horns Reef was the first wind farm built out at sea, the North Sea. The farm is comprised of 80 Vestas V80-2.0 MW and 91 more Siemens SWP 2.3-93 turbines for a total production capacity rated at 369mw, enough energy to power as many as 350,000 homes!
